Brittany Carr

B.HSc. (honours), Ph.D.

I graduated with honours from the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at the University of Calgary in 2011, and earned my Ph.D. in Neuroscience under the mentorship of Dr. William K. Stell and Dr. Morley D. Hollenberg at the University of Calgary in April 2017. In the Moritz lab, I use CRISPR-Cas9 to study the effects of prominin-1 null and photoreceptor cadherin null mutations on photoreceptor structure and retinal health in X. laevis tadpoles and frogs - with a particular focus on the cone photoreceptors.

My favorite lab activities are imaging (confocal and electron microscopy) and mentoring students. Outside the lab, my interests are food, photography, hiking, painting, travel, and scuba diving.
